Happy mail Monday.

Monday’s are the best day to receive happy mail. Today, I was double lucky and had two letters waiting for me in the mail box. One from my little cousin, arguably my favorite pen pal, and the other from a new west coast friend. Writing letters is such a fun way to get to know someone. It is like having a long drawn out conversation with no end in sight. Each envelope holds a new chapter in the relationship.

Both of these lovely pen pals are amazing, and I love seeing their return address on unopened envelopes. Until we started writing my little cousin and I knew each other mostly from holiday get togethers, now she has become a huge part of my life and I hope that connection continues to grow. Her creativity and ability to push boundaries is inspiring to me. My new friend is someone I would have never known if she hadn’t asked to be my pen pal. I am so honored and glad she did, because she is an amazing person who I can not wait to get to know more with each passing letter.

I hope every once in a while my letters make it to their destination on a Monday to brighten up someones day, because everyone deserves a happy Monday.

Tomorrow will be a little bit easier and I will become a stronger me everyday.

The “what if” game.

Busy days are the best. Today I was in the middle of multiple projects that kept me on the go all day. I was thankful to be busy, because this morning my mind was racing in so many not so positive directions. Sometimes I still get caught up in the “what if” game. What if I had only said this, or done that or been better at another thing. I always come to the same conclusion, that “what ifs” don’t matter because what happened is where I am and I would not change it even if I could.

The past months I have changed so much for the better. I am stronger, more confident and able to take on the world. Things I was too sacred to do before are becoming leaps of faith that I am taking with less hesitation. Please, understand, I am still plenty scared, but my fear tolerance has changed and now I welcome challenges in a whole new way.

How I had to get to this place in my life was not so fun, but now that I am here and am on this journey I plan to take full advantage of every benefit.

Tomorrow will be a little bit easier and I will become a stronger me everyday.

140.6 miles.

Over the last year I have watched an amazing woman prepare for a huge challenge. She has swam, biked and run mile after mile in preparation for the Lake Placid Ironman. Sunday morning she will put all her training and preparation to the test. It has been inspirational to watch her journey and an honor to lifeguard for her early morning swims.

Training for such a grueling event means a lot of sacrifice. So much of your time and energy is poured into overcoming each challenge. With the support of her family she has handled everything with an amazing amount of grace. Through weather, injury and everything in between she pushed through and made it to the starting line.

I am looking forward to following her throughout the day as she completes her 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride, 26.2 mile run. She has a group of family and friends that will be there wearing “Team Luckiest” t-shirts in bright green to provide her with encouragement every step of the way. Although I will be home I too will be sending supportive prayers and well wishes as she completes the goal she has worked so hard to achieve.

New territory.

This morning I woke up and felt like I had entered new territory. It is amazing how one day I can feel like an emotional wreck, and the next be ready to take on whatever challenges came my way, and trust me, there were plenty of challenges. This week work has had some moments of pure frustration. I do my best to stay calm, but I am not always successful. As always tomorrow is a new day full of adventure and challenges all its own. I am hoping for more adventure and less challenge.

Tomorrow will be a little bit easier and I will become a stronger me everyday.
